DCG Project/ Brief & SolidWorks Files

19.99

This is the project/brief that helped me get an H1 in Design Communication Graphics (DCG).

This product includes the Brief, Project, SolidWorks  Files, all pictures used, and any other material used in this project.

ADVICE: Here are some tips I have for getting an H1 in the project section of DCG:
  1. Google is your friend:

When it comes to designing there will be awkward items that you and your teacher will not know how to do – check out forms online on how to do it or if you know anyone that works with CAD professionally ask them for their opinion. This roadblock happened to me when I wanted to extrude a curved surface with text (Olympic logo).

  2. Don’t Cram It:

If you can, get as much computer time as possible early in 6th year and get the SolidWorks finished as soon as possible. Don’t leave the CAD until the 11th hour. Many people leave all their projects until the end. This is a recipe for disaster as CAD drawings are very time-consuming.

  3. Don’t spend too much time on the CAD:

This might sound like I am going against what I have said above, but CAD isn’t everything. While the assignment is worth 40% of your final grade this is not for the SolidWorks files themselves. This is for the project as a whole – layout, presentation and finish of the physical booklet can have a huge impact on how the examiner grades you. Make sure you don’t put all your energy into the CAD files, the booklet is just as important.
